One piece of advice that almost everybody gives to a first time real estate investor is to hire a realtor. They will all tell you that it is always better to hire a real estate agent to help you through the process. We agree to that. But what they don’t tell you is that you ought to hire the right Minneapolis realtor. What are the common mistakes that you should avoid when you are hiring a realtor for your cause?
Check Only License and Nothing Else
The most logical thing to do when hiring a professional is to check for their license. But is license the only thing that you should be looking into? No! What if there was a disciplinary action taken against the realtor and his license is yet to be cancelled? What if there are complaints lodged against him and he is being investigated? A license will not give you answer to these questions.
Not Check for Qualifications
Most people believe that a licensed realtor is enough for their requirements. But what they don’t realize is that realtors also have specialist training courses designed for them to gain expertise in certain type of specialty. But who check them, right?
Not Asking for Right Client References
Most people will ask the realtor to share client references and he will very happily do so. However, the mistake made here is related to establishing the relevant of the client. Does that client share the same income bracket as yours? Does he have the same kind of lifestyle as yours? Was he looking for something similar to your need? Was the client even looking for something in the same area as you? Answers to these questions can really help you gauge the expertise of the realtor.
